Cheryl White – Visual Artist

Cheryl has studied various painting techniques, life drawing, print-making and ceramics. Being creative has always been her passion.

“My interest is in symbolic artwork and communication through the use of imagery”

Cheryl paints Intuitive Portraits, which uses imagery to tell a person’s life story in visual form. This unique form of artwork is called The Magic Mirror and is extremely popular. The process involves a 2-3 hour consultation to discover the client’s qualities, belief, dreams and challenges. The portrait evolves over 3-4 weeks.  An extensive written report is included and explains all the symbolism and meaning within the painting. This is a very personal and intimate form of portrait which gives an opportunity for self discovery and personal empowerment.

“I believe that artwork has a voice and should be an experience for the artist and the viewer.”

Cheryl also enjoys creating Illusionary Paintings which have hidden images within them. This unusual style of artwork gives an opportunity to stretch the imagination and see through fresh eyes. Each unique painting offers new discoveries, bringing about a sense of surprise and satisfaction.

Some of her work includes Animal Totems usually done is pastel. Cheryl captures what these animals feel like as much as what they look like. Many people are naturally drawn to an animal that has significant meaning for them. Written information about the symbology of the animal is included with each painting.

“I have always been fascinated by art from other cultures, especially ancient Pagan, Celtic and Indigenous art.”

Since the beginning of time humans have recorded their story through the use of images. We are visual beings and use pictures to communicate and connect with other humans. Cheryl believes that other cultures have so much to offer those of us born in western society. Art brings us together at a human level.

“Art is universal and belongs to everyone.”
